Naples and Florence offer two different reading stops on the Italy map. In Basile’s Petrosinella, associated with Naples, hair becomes a way to reach a tower. In the 1883 Pinocchio record from Florence, the last chapter opens with the puppet swimming to shore with his father on his back. In one scene a body provides a way up, in the other a way to land.
