Black Horse is a family app: the account is created and managed by a parent. We don't ask children for personal data directly.

What we process

• Parent account: email, optional name, Google/Apple sign-in ID, language.
• Child profile: first name only, gender preference (optional), age, interests and story preferences.
• Generated stories, ratings, favourites and reading history (for recommendations).
• Subscription status; we never see card details — Apple, Google or Stripe process payments.

Why

To write, illustrate and narrate stories, recommend library stories and manage your subscription. No ads, no data selling, no tracking cookies; only a session cookie that is strictly necessary.

Service providers

Story text is produced by an AI model provider (Vultr Inference), pictures by Google Gemini and voices by Cartesia. They only receive what the story needs (first name, age, interests, story text and any drawn avatars) — never your email.

Photos and story characters

When you add a family member or pet to stories you may upload a photo, confirming that you are allowed to use it. The photo is sent to Google Gemini only to draw a cartoon character (avatar) and is not stored by us; only the drawn avatar, the name and the role are kept in your account. You can delete avatars in the app at any time; all are deleted with your account.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account exists. "Delete my account" in the app permanently removes the account, child profiles and private stories. Stories you suggested and we approved stay in the library without the name (placeholder).
