Geppetto sells his coat to buy Pinocchio a schoolbook. Pinocchio sells the book to get into the theatre. Both scenes involve a sale, but the aim changes. The first opens a route to school, the second buys a ticket. The book passing from hand to hand links two possible paths for the puppet.
