Origin and tradition

Northern Kordofan · Hamar, Sudan

In the Hamar telling, Nijaidun swaps clothes with the girl in the household. In the dark, the woman feels the clothes and thinks she knows who is beside her. The Kababish telling also shows how Nijaidun learns of the plan. He hears it while hiding behind the tent curtain to take some sugar. The two texts approach the same trick through different clues.
