Mauritius’s heritage inventory gives two Bhojpuri tellings of Muriya Pahaar. In one, a milkman turns to stone after revealing a secret. In the other, a bridegroom angers fairies and becomes a mountain, while the wedding party becomes a mountain range. The same place name is explained through a secret in one telling and a wedding journey in the other.
