Korea · storytelling tradition
In Gale’s 1913 collection, Im straps himself to a tree with his belt as the woodcutter tells him. He can see the lights of the pavilion on the lake and the people inside. Once the two fighters leap into the air, they vanish from view. From then on, Im has to make sense of the duel through the sound of steel and flashes in the dark.
