Origin and tradition

Berlin, present-day Germany

The frog retrieves the golden ball and comes to the palace to collect on the princess’s promise. In Grimm, the spell breaks when she angrily throws him against a wall. The carriage scene brings another surprise: the iron bands around faithful Heinrich’s heart snap one by one. The ending shows what the transformation means for someone beyond the couple.
