Origin and tradition

Côte d’Ivoire · Baoulé storytelling region

In the telling collected by Joseph N’Goran Kouamé and published by Dominique Duviard, Ago’s gold necklace reports what it sees to King Nana. Ago sings for help, and a turaco answers her song. In the end, Ago is made to live on kapok seeds. Duviard compares this detail with the striped insect he observed at the foot of kapok trees.
