Looking closely at small creatures opens two paths into Baoulé storytelling in Côte d’Ivoire. Ago’s stripes and the seeds of the kapok tree connect a tale collected in G’Pakobo with observations of the natural world. The water spider’s red colour recalls a punishment by water spirits in a bilingual Baoulé–French collection.
