The Red Sock on the Humming Path
Read it with your name in the appOnce upon a time, at the edge of Whispering Woods, lived Little One, a seven-year-old child who loved music. Little One could make a song from two wooden spoons and a tin pot. Little One’s best friend, Mina, lived across the woods, and the two planned a Friendship Band concert for Saturday. On Friday morning, Little One opened the door and found a lost sock. It was red with tiny yellow music notes. “A sock?” said Little One. “Someone needs this for the concert!” Little One tucked the sock into a little bag and set off on a big journey.
The woods were wide, and the path split in two. Little One listened. Far away, a soft humming floated between the trees. “Which way to Mina’s cottage?” Little One asked a small black foal with a golden star on the forehead. The foal flicked a purple mane. “Follow the humming path,” said the foal. “I can carry you over Pebble Brook.” Little One climbed on, and the foal stepped gently across the stones. “Thank you, kind friend,” said Little One. The lost sock fluttered like a tiny flag as Little One walked on.
