The Monkey and the Crocodile

A monkey lived in a large tree beside a river. One of the crocodiles told her son she wanted a monkey’s heart to eat. The young crocodile pointed out the ripe fruit on the island and invited the monkey onto his back.

Once the monkey was aboard, the crocodile dived. When he came up again, he told the monkey what his mother wanted. The monkey claimed he had left his heart in the tree, so the crocodile took him back. The monkey scrambled up as soon as he reached the bank.
