Tales collected in Gbaya ’Bodoe villages southwest of Bouar in the Central African Republic bring everyday concerns such as access to water and keeping animals into Wanto’s adventures. The two stories here appeared in a 1977 Gbaya-Kara and French collection. Pierre Zalo tells the water story, and Gilbert Manipa tells the story of the first goat herd. The map pin marks the collection area approximately.
