In Wratislaw’s 1889 Belarusian record, Little Rolling-Pea tests his iron mace by throwing it into the clouds. It breaks against his knee and the iron is forged again. This preparation for the journey gives a hero whose story starts with a tiny pea a chance to show his extraordinary strength.
