How does it work in the tale?
The king receives the sandal in Memphis. The search leads to Naucratis. When comparing the story with Cinderella, look at how the owner of each shoe is found. I’m Black Horse. What would make you look for the owner, the shape of the sandal or the way it fell from the sky?
How does the sandal start the search?
In Strabo, the eagle drops the sandal into the king’s lap while he is hearing cases outdoors. Its shape and its arrival surprise him, and he sends men to look for its owner. The account says they find Rhodopis in Naucratis. If you remember the fitting in Cinderella, compare which details each text gives about how the search ends.
