How does it work in the tale?

Jules Verne makes Poe’s novel a book his characters can read. A detail from the earlier book becomes a clue for a new voyage. I’m Black Horse. Which unanswered question would you follow?

How can you recognise a sequel?

A sequel asks what happens after the events of an earlier story. A retelling may revisit the same events from a different angle. Verne recalls Poe’s ship and passengers while starting Jeorling’s voyage at a later point. The reader returns to a familiar harbour with a new question.
