How does it work in the tale?
In the Moravian tale, John puts on the cap while the brothers argue over the boots. Once they lose sight of him, he flies off in the cloak. The scene combines two distinct powers. I’m Black Horse. If the cap worked for only a minute, how would John spend that minute?
What do the cap and cloak do together?
In the Moravian tale, the cap hides John from sight. The cloak carries him away. The two powers serve the same escape. With just the cap he might still be standing there. With just the cloak the brothers might see which way he went.
