Classic fairy tales, gently retold
In short: The Black Horse library includes retellings of classics such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Jack and the Beanstalk, The Ugly Duckling, The Tortoise and the Hare, Little Red Riding Hood and Thumbelina. The heart of each tale stays the same; scary, cruel or outdated parts are softened for today's children.
What changes?
The wolf doesn't eat anyone; he's a creature who has lost his way. Unkind characters learn something. The language is simple enough for today's children, yet warm enough to keep the magic of the original.
Classics in three languages
Each language has its own much-loved classics: in English, tales like Goldilocks and Jack and the Beanstalk; in German, Grimm tales such as Rotkäppchen, Frau Holle and Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten; in Turkish, Keloğlan and Nasreddin Hoca.
