The White Lady of Auvinyà

Origin and tradition

A landmark legend from the border passage near Sant Julià de Lòria in Andorra.

When the last of the family guarding the passage between Auvinyà and Juberri dies, a woman in white takes over. On Andorra’s culture portal she confronts the bishop of Urgell. A telling used on a visitor trail puts a ruler in his place. The opponent changes, while the passage into Andorra remains the centre of the story.
