Origin and tradition

Spain

In the 1913 edition, Pascual, the cabin boy, objects to splitting up and proposes staying aboard. The men take to the boats because they fear missing out when the treasure is divided. Pascual watches the attack through a telescope from the bow. The riches set the expedition in motion, and the loss of his shipmates drives Pascual’s actions from that point on. The danger grows through decisions made before the dragon even appears.
