Origin and tradition

A tale told by a Jewish storyteller from northern Yemen. In 2017, Ori Shachmon published the text with notes on the speech of Sa’dah.

A girl, seven lost brothers and a ghoul belong to the same story. The brothers’ transformations change the course of events. The record is also distinctive for its language. Ori Shachmon studies how the teller uses the everyday speech of Sa’dah in northern Yemen alongside the tale itself.
