Origin and tradition

Prizren area, Kosovo

In a 2018 paper by University of Prishtina researchers, a young woman leaves an unwanted engagement and builds a fortress with help from her friends. A second legend in the paper tells of a girl’s statue found full of gold coins. One account explains the name through what a group of people did. The other centres on an object said to have been found there.
