Origin and tradition
Agĩkũyũ origin tradition in the Mount Kenya region.
In Jomo Kenyatta’s account, Ngai shows Gĩkũyũ where to live. When the daughters of Gĩkũyũ and Mũmbi grow up, a tree becomes the setting for another turning point. The fig tree connects the family’s story with the beginnings of a wider community.
