Origin and tradition
A saint’s legend about a voyage from Corsica to Monaco. The 2003 record documents a statue in Corsica, and the 2016 record documents a telling at the observance in Monaco.
The legend tells of Dévote’s remains being taken aboard a boat in Corsica. A storm rises during the voyage, and a dove guides the boat to Monaco. At today’s commemoration, the procession arriving by sea recalls that journey. A statue in Lucciana, Corsica, shows Dévote kneeling in a boat with a dove in her hands.
