Origin and tradition
Comoros · Milépvani oral transmission, approximate location
Salim Hatubou’s 2004 picture book records this telling from Milépvani in the Comoros. The publisher credits Hatubou’s maternal grandmother with passing it on to him. The title puts the queen of the demons in the foreground, while the first turning point takes place at home. Chifchif also has a companion with a name of his own, the goat Assoumane-el-bique.
