Origin and tradition

A tale presented as an Afghan beast fable in a 1904 English-language publication.

A camel rider rescues a snake from a fire by taking it into a bag. The snake then threatens him. The fox claims a bag that small cannot hold a snake that large. When the snake climbs back in to prove it can, the dispute changes course. The fox’s move is to test the claim.
