Origin and tradition

A Bunun tradition from Taiwan documented by the museum in Hualien.

Two suns rise in turn and leave no night. In the Hualien museum’s account, a father and son set out to reach the sun. They plant fruit seeds along the way so that they can find their way back. The sun becomes the moon, and the travellers return by following the grown trees.
