Saint Helena’s first Atlas record is a ghost legend tied to Lot’s Wife rock in Sandy Bay. Elizabeth Balcombe Abell writes that she told it to Napoleon, who had already seen the rock. Her 1844 memoir also records how knowing a place’s story can change the way someone looks at it.
