In the preface to her 1920 Polish Fairy Tales, Maude Ashurst Biggs credits Gliński’s collection printed in Vilna in 1862. In her Frog Princess, a carpet and a cake change how the court regards the bride. Burning the frogskin then takes the story from the palace to poppy fields and turning huts.
