In Eritrea’s Tigre-language sky lore, stars form families, hide from one another and tend herds. Kema is a mother-in-law in The Great Star. In The Goats of Kema and Her Son, the same cluster belongs to a family looking for its missing herd. Both stories appear in Enno Littmann’s 1908 German article and his 1910 English collection. The pin marks the Tigre storytelling region approximately.
