Origin and tradition
A CHamoru creation tradition of the Mariana Islands. The records distinguish the 1998 Saipan publication from the 2009 Guam telling.
Pontan asks his sister Fo’na to shape the world from his body. His eyes become the sun and moon, and his eyebrows become the rainbow. Fo’na then becomes Fouha Rock. The rock in the bay gives listeners a place to picture how a story that began in the sky arrives at the beginning of human life.
