Little One and the Roll-Away Red Sock

Little One is three years old. Little One has a soft red ball. Today is a big forest journey. A kind grown-up sits nearby. The grown-up smiles and waves. Little One says, “Let’s play ball!” Bounce, bounce, ball. Roll, roll, ball. Little One kicks the ball. Kick, kick, kick! The ball rolls away. Roll, roll, roll! Little One hops after it. Hop, hop, hop!

The ball stops by a big tree. Little One sees something small. It is a red sock. The sock has blue dots. “Sock, sock, where are you from?” says Little One. Little One looks left. Little One looks right. No one is there. “This sock is lost,” says Little One. “I will find the owner.” Little One holds the sock up. The sock waves in the air. Flap, flap, flap. This is a big sock journey.
